This biography of the African-American entrepreneur who was born Sarah Breedlove tells how, as Madame C. J. Walker, she built a huge nationwide business that sold beauty products to the black consumer. Cited in many surveys as one of the most successful African-American businesspeople of the 20th century, Madame Walker was a philanthropist and community organizer in a time of segregation.
